Family Quiz Night – Saturday 2nd May

On Saturday 2nd May Mytholmroyd Scout Group will be hosting a Family Quiz Night.

We are organising the evening to raise money for the group. The money will go towards camps, equipment and bills so we can keep running the group successfully. Also the four of us are organising it with the support of Billy so that we can pass the Fundraiser and Administrator Activity Badges.

Tickets cost just £3 for adults and £2.50 for concessions. We will also be serving food and refreshments on the night.

There will be questions to suit all ages and it will be a nice, light hearted night to bring the whole group together and to have some fun!

The quiz starts at 7.30pm, with doors open from 7pm.

For any further information or to purchase tickets, please speak to one of us or email

We look forward to seeing you on the night.

Christmas Eve Bag Pack

A big thank you to all those who gave up their time on Christmas Eve for this year’s bag pack at Sainsbury’s. The money has now been counted and we have raised just over £2000 for group funds which is excellent!

As well as raising funds you were all a credit to Mytholmroyd Scout Group and Scouting in general.

Well Done and Happy New Year!

Summer Camp 2015

We are pleased to announce that next year’s summer camp will be at Ratlingate Scout Camping Centre near Carlisle.

We will once again be sharing our camp with Ballymoney Scout Group from Northern Ireland.

We have booked the campsite from July 25th to August 1st. We will ask for names and deposits once we have worked out the costings.

Scout and Explorer Leaders

Nighthawk Challenge 2014

We had two groups representing Mytholmroyd at this year’s Nighthawk Challenge, ran by Huddersfield North Scouts. Our Scout team came finished in second place and our Explorer Team came third, with them being arguably being the youngest Explorer team involved too. A great effort from both teams – well done!

Subscription Fees

To all parents and carers,

At our Annual General Meeting a vote was passed in favour of increasing the subscriptions.

The new amounts are:
£42.00 per quarter  for Beavers and Cubs
£48.00 per quarter  for Scouts and Explorers
Copies of the appropriate standing order forms are attached. Please inform your bank of the changed standing order before 1st October 2014.

Croatia Trip 2014

Here are just a few photographs from our recent Summer Camp in Croatia. During our time out there we went caving, rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting and swimming. We spent the majority of our time in the town of Fuzine whilst visiting the capital city of Zagreb for a few days as well. As well as taking part in various outdoor activities, we met international Scouts, took part in some cultural experiences and above all, had lots of fun!

Mytholmroyd Gala, Saturday 5th July

The Gala is fast approaching and we are now looking for volunteers to help set up and run the Scout Group stall (It will be tombola plus a ‘bric a brac’ stall.)

This is one of the few fundraisers we ask parents to help out at so please put your name down for a session. Any parents, carers, leaders, Explorers and older Scouts are welcome to sign up on the sheet in the scout room or let me know what time you can do by email, younger Scouts (under 14), Cubs and Beavers are welcome to help as long as they bring a parent/carer with them!

We will be moving everything we need from the Scout room to the gala field at around 9am so will need help with loading up and transporting.

We will then need to set the stall up (put up tables/Gazebo etc and lay out tombola prizes/bric a brac etc).

From 11 O’clock we will need people to be on the stall, if you could sign up for a half hour or hour slot that would be fantastic, either add your name to the list in the entrance of the scout room or let me know what time would be best for you by email.

If enough people sign up it will be an easy afternoon! We need to have people on the stall until approx. 4.30 – 5pm (depending on the weather and crowd size – it’s the Tour de France weekend!) then dismantle everything and get everything back to the Scout room.

Please sign up/let me know how you can help ASAP.

We also need donations of Tombola prizes (anything new or good as new) and bric a brac.
